We really want to encourage the children to be charitable in the St. Vincent de Paul food drive. This Friday was scheduled as a no-infraction uniform reward day. In honor of Bedlam this Saturday, I am postponing the reward day to Friday, December 9. This Friday (December 2) children who bring 2 cans of food or $2 may wear an OU or OSU shirt. This is not a free dress day, and this is not a jeans day. This is just a OU/OSU shirt day. If your child does not have a shirt with a logo, s/he may wear the appropriate school colors of OU or OSU. To make the competition a little more exciting, we will keep track of OU/OSU donations. If OU wins, Mrs. Outhier (SPN's most rabid OSU fan) and Ms. Shea (SPN's 2nd most rabid OSU fan) will wear an OU jersey on Friday, December 9 (the no infraction day). If OSU wins, Mrs. Hawkins (SPN's most rabid OU fan) and Mrs. Schmidlkofer (SPN's 2nd most rabid OU fan) will wear an OSU jersey on no infraction day.
Children who have had no uniform infractions since February 16th may dress out of uniform tomorrow. Children are being reminded by their teachers if they have had a uniform infraction. Please remember that children cannot wear tank tops, crop tops, leggings, jeggings, or yoga pants. Slogans on shirts must not be inappropriate. Children may wear their shirts untucked.
Grades 1st-8th will participate in the annual pray walk talk event during the school day. Don't forget to turn in your permission forms!
We are making plans for the children to see the solar eclipse. We will not have outside recess that day due to the risk of the children seeing the sun unprotected. Mrs.Tener will be sending a separate email with a permission slip. The letter explains the plan and provides information about our eclipse glass vendor. Please print the form and return it for your child to be able to view the eclipse.

Important Information for Middle School Parents
As I know Mrs. Miller has made you aware, the age for the Sacrament of Confirmation has been lowered to the sixth grade. This year any Catholic middle school student wishing to be confirmed must attend a retreat on Sunday, September 26. The retreat will begin immediately following 11 am Mass and will conclude at 4 pm. Please mark your calendar and refer to Falcon Facts for details.
Back to school for Middle school only---Wednesday, August 12-- 8 am – 12 noon—Lunch will not be served
Back to school for Preschool – 8th grade—Friday, August 14-- 8 am – 12 noon --Lunch will not be served
Back to school for 3rd – 8th grade only—Thursday, August 13-- 8 am – 12 noon --Lunch will not be served
Students who have not had a uniform infraction since January 11 may come out of uniform on Friday, February 8. Please remember the out of uniform guidelines when selecting Friday's wardrobe.
Contact Lorna Bohn at (405) 737-4476 for more details.
The next training is: Friday, February 8 at 3:30 pm in the St. Gregory room.
On Monday, September 23 the students may dress like the 1950's or they may wear any spirit shirt from the past-with jeans or shorts. Please remember this guideline for the pants: no short shorts, no leggings, no jeggings, no yoga pants.
Child care will be provided during the meeting from 5-6. We will meet in the activity center and then move to a classroom for the meeting.
From 9am-1pm come get your flu vaccines in the Family Life Center. Must be 7 years old or older. If you have an insurance card the cost will be filed with your insurance, otherwise shots are $25.
Students may purchase an out-of-uniform pass to wear a Halloween shirt (or Halloween colors) and jeans on Wednesday, October 31. They may not use any other free dress pass on this day. The cost is $2 and all funds raised will be given to the St. Vincent de Paul Society the day we go home for Christmas.
Each year parents are invited for a special Thanksgiving lunch with their child(ren). This year our lunch is scheduled for Thursday, November 7. I will send a schedule of lunch times later. I would like, however, to make parents aware that if you have more than one child and they eat at different times, you are asked to eat across those multiple lunch times. The cafeteria cannot accommodate the need for extra chairs at other lunch times, and it is disruptive to an already modified class schedule. Thanks for your consideration in this.
Students in grades Kindergarten through 8th will need to be in the gym by 5:40 to get with their classes.
As the Principal for a Day, our principal declared that this Friday (March 29) the children may come out of uniform. Please remember: no spaghetti straps, no tank tops, no inappropriate sayings, no short shorts, no crop tops. If you have a doubt about what your child wishes to wear, please don't let him/her wear it.
Box Tops are due on August 31 for the 1st competition. The class with the most Box Tops will earn an extra recess. The middle school counts Box Tops by house.
It is the time of year to elect new officers for the 2019-20 academic year. If you would like to place your name on the ballot, email the PTO officers: pto@spnok.org, call Mrs. Tener, or let your homeroom parent know.
April is Child Abuse Awareness/Prevention month. Monday, April 1 the children will receive a coloring sheet. Any child who returns the coloring sheet by Tuesday, April 9 will receive a child abuse awareness bandana. All students are asked to wear blue on Wednesday, April 10 to stand against child abuse. We will take a group picture. Students with bandanas may wear them as well.
Friday, December 13 will be a uniform reward day for any children who have not had an infraction since November 8.
Please plan to attend the 11 am Mass on Sunday, January 30. We also ask that the students wear their dress uniform as they do for Thursday school Mass. Our students will be lectors and altar servers. Father will recognize the students in attendance.
The next safe environment training will be on September 14, 2016 at 8:0 a.m. in the McAulay room. If you missed the meetings on August 10 and you have not been safe-environment trained, please make every attempt to attend this meeting in September. All volunteers must be safe environment trained.
