Every type of illness that a child might normally have can also be a symptom of Covid-19. Therefore, the school must treat every absence like an absence resulting from Covid-19. Unless you can document an illness as something other than Covid-19, you may be required to quarantine your child.

You will need to complete this form any time your child is absent. You can complete it digitally and return it to Mrs.Tener digitally as well.  She must have it by 9 am on the day your child is first absent. She will then respond with a date your child may return. Students may not return any less than 24 hours from the elimination of the last symptom--without any medication used to reduce the symptom. That means that if your child goes home at any time during the school day because s/he is sick, s/he may not return the very next day.

If your child has been in contact with someone with a confirmed case of Covid-19, you will be expected to quarantine a full 14 days if the contact is determined close--whether or not your child develops any symptoms. The quarantine is set at 14 days because it can take that long for symptoms to develop. Testing mid-quarantine does not guarantee that your child won't still develop Covid-19 in the second half of the quarantine. Please know that this is not a decision made by Mrs.Tener. This is a decision made in consultation with the Oklahoma City County Health Department.

Ultimately, these procedures are in place to protect all of us==students, teachers, and staff. Please help me keep everyone safe.
